5 The ultimate declaration of love

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16 KJ21)

Inumerable Christians know this verse by heart, but how many among them have made the contents their own? How many believers still fear that this promise is not for them? That it is only meant for a few "super Christians"?
Well, what does the verse say:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son"

God loved the world, including ALL human beings, so much that He sacrificed His only begotten Son. The sacrifice Abraham ultimately didn't have to make (Genesis 22:10-12), was made by God Himself! How great this must have been, is still beyond our comprehension. So, ask yourself: would God make such a sacrifice for a small selected group?

"that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Hard to believe? Well, this is for EVERYONE who sincerely believes that God loves him/her and therefore has put ALL sins of the world upon the shoulders of His Son. Jesus Christ suffered for "whosoever believeth in Him" and God does not punish twice for the same transgression!

"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ (by grace ye are saved), and hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus," (Ephesians 2:4-6 KJ21)

God, rich in mercy, Creator of the concept of mercifulness, loves us so much that, although we were dead in sins (Genesis 2:17), He raised us up, together with Christ. Whoever truly believes in the salvation of our Lord Jesus will be born again. A new creation without the burden of sins, for our Saviour paid for them once and for all:
"By this will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering time and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down at the right hand of God," (Hebrews 10:10-12 KJ21)

Once born again, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit:
"In Christ ye also trusted after ye heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation. In Him also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise," (Ephesians 1:13 KJ21)

When God has sealed us with His Holy Spirit, we will be safe in His Hand:
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:35-39 KJ21)

We can be grateful and glad to know that we may call God our Father (Luke 11:2), which at the same time includes that we are His children. Now tell me: who is more willing and more able to take care of his children than the Almighty?
